Hokkaido in December typically runs somewhere between about −10°C and 0°C in the daytime, and there will usually be snow on the ground. Check the forecast for your actual dates before you finalise anything — a cold snap or a mild week changes the answer.十二月的北海道日间气温大约在 −10°C 到 0°C 之间，地上通常会有积雪。 出发前请查你实际日期的天气预报 —— 遇上寒流或暖冬，答案就不一样。
The number itself is not the useful part. What matters is that this is cold you cannot walk off, cold that finds the gaps in what you are wearing, and cold that makes bare skin hurt within minutes. Malaysians consistently underestimate this, because there is no local reference point for it.光看数字其实没什么用。重点是：这种冷不是走一走就会暖起来的， 它会钻进你衣服的每一个缝隙，而且几分钟内就能让裸露的皮肤发痛。 马来西亚人几乎都会低估这一点，因为本地根本没有可以参照的经验。
The three layers三层穿法
Base layer. A thermal top and thermal leggings, worn against the skin. This is the layer Malaysians most often skip, and it is the one that makes the biggest difference for the least bulk. Buy these — they are cheap, and you want them fresh against your skin.内层：发热衣与发热裤，贴身穿。这是马来西亚人最常省略的一层， 但它是「最不占体积、效果最明显」的一层。这层建议自己买 —— 便宜，而且贴身的东西你会想要全新的。

Outer layer. A proper down jacket — 羽绒服. In Hokkaido specifically, take the heavy one rather than the light one. You do not need a different outfit for every day. Outerwear is not worn against the skin, so one jacket does the whole trip — you rotate the base layers underneath, not the coat.
